Team Boettcher’s Weekend In Brisbane

To give our fundraising efforts a boost, Team Boettcher decided to hold a weekend event at the Redbank Plains Shopping Village. We were fortunate that the Ipswich Mayor, Paul Pisasale and Councillor Paul Tully are such good sports, as Matt dared them to be painted blue alongside him. He even said he would match their donations if they went along with it. Luckily (or not) for him, they agreed. The outcome was some very blue faces and a lot of laughs on Sunday 27th, September.

Our major donors, Monkey Conveyancing got in on the blue act, as did a couple of innocent bystanders!

We also held a sausage sizzle, sold wristbands and handed out balloons to the passersby. Wonderland Face and Body Art came along to support our event as well, doing some groovy face painting for the local kids.

It was remarkable how many men slipped change into the donation tins as they walked passed – a really heartening indictment that the message of awareness around men’s cancer is getting through.

The day helped boost our tally over our $5000 goal and it feels awesome to contribute to such a worthy cause. It helped that we had a lot of fun, too!
